Kwavulindlebe Primary School is now the first school in the country that has 100% Mobile Phone saturation after the generous donation of the Mobile devices for learning at the school for deaf in Chatsworth, DURBAN.
It is also the first school where teachers are being trained to develop customized content for learning using MacBooks donated by Learning Academy Worldwide's partner in Europe, the American Overseas School of Rome. During the first training session earlier in March, teachers immediately created a demonstration to show the possibilities for teaching in sign language.
Kwavulindlebe principal, Mrs Nomathemba Ndlovu, accepted the devices on behalf of the school. She is seen here together with students and a respentative from the local government, Mr Brandon Pillay.
The mobile phones used by the school will serve the purpose of availing to each child easy access to content for learning and opportunities for developing of South African Sign Language. The phones are sponsored by the US Mobile Service Provider, SPRINT, who is a longstanding partner of Learning Academy Worldwide. The project is under the direct oversight and support of the Deaf Federation of South Africa where, Director, Mrs Odette Swift's guidance and training are pivotal to project implementation.
